As part of Small Charity Week 2014 and on Policy Day (18th June 2014), Suffolk County Council in partnership with Community Action Suffolk, invited groups from the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) to attend an event allowing them to engage in the major transformation progammes that are taking place at the Council. Councillor Beccy Hopfensperger, Cabinet member for Localities and Environment, which includes the cabinet lead for the VCS, opened the event alongside Chris Abraham Deputy Chief Executive of Community Action Suffolk.
Representatives from the voluntary and community sector co-facilitated the discussions alongside staff from Suffolk Council leading the programmes. Over 70 delegates from voluntary and community sector groups in Suffolk discussed particular transformation programmes including:
- Local Response
- Supporting Lives Connecting Communities
- Procurement
- Travel
- Making Every Intervention Count
- Health and Social Care Integration
- Raising The Bar
and explored how the VCS can contribute to these transformation programmes.
A report is currently being put together capturing some of the key messages from the event and next steps which will be circulated to all those who attended.
