Community Action Suffolk and local Voluntary & Statutory Partnership held a Health & Happiness event on World Mental Health Day last week, where a number of local agencies came together to raise awareness on the support available to enable us to lead mentally healthier and happier lives.
Every year, over 4,000 people in Haverhill will experience mental ill health; yet only a quarter will seek and receive treatment. This event was held to encourage positive action and discussion amongst local people.
Elaine Hewes, of Community Action Suffolk says, “People of all ages and backgrounds in Suffolk are affected by mental ill health, and we want to let them know that there is a wide range of expert support and advice available. Great local organisations such as St. Nicholas Hospice Care, Healthwatch , Suffolk Family Carers and Age UK are all here to help.”
The event was part of Suffolk Health & Wellbeing month, a campaign running throughout October which includes a range of Health & Happiness events around the county.
