The first Volunteering Summit hosted by Community Action Suffolk and the Suffolk Congress took place on 19th November 2014 – 85 delegates attended this one day event at Kesgrave Community and Conference Centre.
It was a chance to listen to keynote speakers and attend workshops focusing on both the local and national topics surrounding volunteer involving organisations. Rob Jackson, from Rob Jackson Consultancy, certainly got the room thinking about the new breed of volunteer and how they want to get involved with groups!
Thank you to all those who attended and left feedback on the day with their ideas and issues – we hope to tackle some of the topics raised in the Volunteer Coordinator Network Meetings over the next year.
The message from both a local and national level was although there is still a place for traditional volunteering we are all going to need to review our practices, it’s a competitive environment and the organisations are not just competing against each other for volunteers but with the volunteers’ limited leisure time too.
