From 1 November 2016, Suffolk County Council will cease to be the provider of the onesuffolk service and Community Action Suffolk (CAS) will become the new provider. The onesuffolk web hosting facility will not be disrupted by the transfer, and your domain name will remain the same.
This change is happening as Suffolk County Council can no longer continue to deliver the onesuffolk service, due to the cost and challenges associated with offering a bespoke website hosting facility.
onesuffolk is a pioneering website provider service that was developed in 2003 by a partnership of all the local authorities in Suffolk and the Police. Its aim was to provide support to the people of Suffolk by enabling parish councils, community and voluntary organisations to communicate information about their particular service or geographical area.
Since 2003 the onesuffolk service has been provided free of charge by Suffolk County Council. However, due to the cost and challenges associated with offering a bespoke website hosting facility, Suffolk County Council can no longer continue to deliver the service.
Important changes to onesuffolk
As part of the plan to secure the future of the service, CAS will be introducing a small annual charge. This charge covers a small fraction of the overall cost of running onesuffolk and is necessary to ensure the service can continue. Charges will be as follows:
- £30 +VAT per annum for Voluntary and Community Groups, Charities and Social Enterprises
- £50 +VAT per annum for Town and Parish Councils
- £70 +VAT per annum for Businesses
