A new project providing intensive support for young people in Suffolk to gain and sustain employment and education, launched on 22 March 2017.
The Minding The Gap project was officially launched to over 70 attendees at Blackbourne Community Centre in Elmswell. The project is a partnership of eight organisations, led by Community Action Suffolk, and supported through the Building Better Opportunities programme, which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund (ESF).
The partners will reach out to work with young people, aged 15 to 24, with complex needs who are most distant from the job market and experiencing multiple barriers to accessing services and employment related support.
Attendees at the launch event enjoyed short presentations and videos from the eight delivery partners, hearing about the differences they already make to the lives of young people in Suffolk.
Hannah Reid, Associate Director Business Development at CAS, said: “The organisations who will deliver Minding The Gap are already doing fantastic work with young people in Suffolk. This project will help them support those who are even harder to reach, or have more complex situations.
“We’d like to thank everyone who came to today’s launch, in particular the young people from Access Community Trust whose cake decorating demonstration was fantastic!
“Our thanks also go to Cllr Jane Storey, Deputy Leader of Suffolk County Council for attending the launch. We are all excited by the potential of Minding The Gap and making positive changes to the lives of Suffolk’s young people.”
