Community Action Suffolk Awards Celebration 2018

The sun shone as our 2018 winners and guests gathered at the Museum of East Anglian life in Stowmarket  last week.

CAS presented nine awards to individuals and organisations representing  – communities, Children and Young People and volunteering.

Welcome and introductions from the Chair of Trustees, Stephen Javes and Chief Executive, Pete Richardson paved the way for a heart warming evening of honouring those who contribute so much to their community.

CAS Award Winners 2018

The Roddy Macleod award – youth club of the year  – Outreach Youth

The Andrew Towers award – young person of the year – Kelsi Padmore & Morgan Gammon (joint winners)

The Anne Dunford OBE award – youth participation – Student Life

The Colonel Probert award – community initiative  – Aldeburgh Hospital Volunteer Garden Team

The Village Hall or Community Building award – Gainsborough Community Library  (supported by Village Hall Plus Group)

The Ian Campbell MBE award – individual initiative – Mark Knowles

The Outstanding Contribution to Volunteering award – Reg Langston (supported by PolicyBee)

Event Organiser of the Year – John Button (supported by Larking Gowen)

CAS Special Award for Exceptional Volunteering  – Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue  (SULSAR)

CAS would like to thank the event’s main sponsor Birketts Solicitors for their continued support.  Individual awards were also kindly sponsored by PolicyBee, Larking Gowen Accountants and Village Hall Plus group.

Students from the University of Suffolk made a video of the evening, our thanks to them for their superb skills and hard work.  We were also joined by Eine Keine Sax Music, a saxophone quartet, who played so beautifully for us in Abbot’s Hall – for more information
