Community Action Suffolk has created a number of short films to celebrate and showcase youth volunteering in Suffolk, starring young people who wouldn’t normally shout out loud about their volunteering achievements! Young people who make an amazing contribution as volunteers in their local communities.
CAS and St Elizabeth Hospice have a long history of working together, St Elizabeth Hospice were one of the first charities to take on a Young Shadowing Trustee in Suffolk and they are a great example of a charity involving young people in a variety of roles across their organisation.
St Elizabeth Hospice receives the support from 1600 volunteers; their youngest volunteers are 14 years old with some as old as 90. Every year they hold a volunteer thank you and award event. We also have many younger volunteers across our Zest brand, which supports young adults living with progressive illness; this year we will be holding a pizza party at our Ipswich branch to say thank you to this group of volunteers.
Volunteers’ Week is an opportunity to champion volunteering and show the amazing difference young people make in our communities everyday. If the following videos have inspired you to volunteer, visit www.volunteersuffolk.org.uk to search for opportunities.
