Some Ukraine guests have now been with their Homes for Ukraine scheme hosts for six months. Not all hosts are able to continue offering accommodationand many guests are not yet in a position to move into independent housing. So there is an urgent need for new hosts who can offer a continued, temporary safe haven as the war continues.
A range of accommodation is required, for singles and couples, mothers with children and larger families. Self-contained premises are particularly helpful e.g. annexe, holiday let or second home.
In conjunction with Suffolk County Council, from 2-11 November CAS is hosting a series of face-to-face information drop-in sessions for potential new hosts. These will be in Bury St Edmunds (2nd), Ipswich (8th), Lowestoft (9th) & Felixstowe (11th) – though the need for new hosts is county-wide.
The process of hosting now tends to be easier than in the initial period of most urgent need, as many Ukrainians have now ‘found their feet’ in the UK e.g. finding work, learning English, children at school etc. But the need for a secure home remains – do come along and find out more if you, or anyone you know, might be able to help out.
