COMMUNITY Action Suffolk and its popular CEO have been nationally acknowledged in an award event honouring the UK’s voluntary sector.
The NAVCA Heart of the Community Awards were staged online by the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action on Friday 4th December.
Organisations from around the country tuned in to watch the announcements live, and to see Community Action Suffolk take the prize for the Support Award.
The Support Award specifically recognises those who have encouraged voluntary organisations and community groups through the provision of tools, information and expertise during the initial months of the Covid crisis.
A further acknowledgment went to Community Action Suffolk’s CEO Chris Abraham, who was Highly Commended in the category of CEO of the Year.
Hannah Reid, Director of Innovation and Business Development for Community Action Suffolk, is delighted with the recognition.
She said: “While we never go looking for praise for the work we do in the voluntary sector, it is a really proud moment for our team to be acknowledged in this way.
“We’ve worked harder than ever across the organisation since the pandemic was declared, assisting charities and community groups to do everything they can to support others, at a time when their services and activity have been so very important.
“In particular, we’re delighted to see Chris receive a Highly Commended honour because all staff recognise how much she has done throughout this year on behalf of the sector, while fully supporting and directing our team.”
Community Action Suffolk has run a number of online information sessions throughout the pandemic, as well as providing advice to organisations and individuals on funding, setting up neighbourhood groups, recruiting volunteers, safeguarding, and much more.
