Community Action Suffolk is pleased to add its voice to the national Volunteers’ Week campaign which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year (1-7 June 2014).
CAS will be celebrating this wonderful spirit of community action with volunteering events across the county, and asking the question “Can you?”.
Can you have a chat?
Can you grow some veg?
Can you make someone smile?
The questions might seem a little odd, but this really is volunteering, and it really is this easy!
Volunteering is a choice and is a big part of many people’s lives and something they have always done. Many people across Suffolk and the UK choose to give their time and skills freely and sometimes without the thanks and recognition they deserve. It is estimated that over 15million people in the UK volunteer every month.
Carolyn Shaw, Volunteering Field Officer at CAS, says, “Community Action Suffolk would like to say a big thank you to everyone who chooses to help their community not matter how small or large. Without your time, skills and compassion people in our communities would not feel so supported.
“You don’t have to give up hours of your time when your life if already busy and full of other commitments. Volunteering can be just 30 minutes when you make a big difference to someone in your community or a charity which you feel passionately about.”
If you would like to give a few minutes of your time, you can have a chat with Community Action Suffolk at any of these upcoming events:
