Following the publication of the House of Lords Select Committee on Charities report in March 2017 (Stronger Charities for a Stronger Society), CAS has decided to bring the report to life in a practical way here in Suffolk: “Stronger charities for a stronger Suffolk” conference on Wednesday 7 February 2018.
Does your organisation have its own website or social media presence?
Recommendation 10 from the report: “It is important for all but the very smallest organisations to have their own websites and social media page to provide transparency.”
Recommendation 33 from the report: “That infrastructure bodies share knowledge and best practice on innovation and digitalisation and coordinate training opportunities for charities with limited digital experience.”
One of the conference workshops will explore, with a local IT business, the use of digital technology and how this can improve your organisation’s effectiveness. Another workshop, led by Matt Woor (Social Media Channel Manager at Suffolk County Council), will be a practical session on the use of social media and myth busting!
The conference will give delegates practical tips, actions and support. We will ensure everyone leaves having gained knowledge of the report and what it means to the VCSE sector. We will look at how we can all apply it in Suffolk, ensuring that a robust, resilient and sustainable sector thrives in its contribution to the communities we serve.
