Supporting Lives, Connecting Communities
You are warmly invited to this event to hear feedback from consultation with service users and organisations about the new operation model for Adult and Community Services in Suffolk. Called ‘Supporting Lives, Connecting Communities’ it aims to provide asset-based support and information and encourage people to remain independent for as long as possible. SLCC rolled out across the county over the summer of 2014.
Monday 8th December 2014 at UCS Waterfront, Ipswich
3.30pm – arrivals and refreshments
4.00pm – prompt start
5.45pm – close
Suffolk County Council commissioned University Campus Suffolk to undertake a consultation to inform an Equality Impact Analysis of SLCC. This analysis was published in July and is available on the Council website (ACS Supporting Lives Connecting Communities Full Equalities Impact Assessment July 2014)
The event will provide a general overview of the consultation, with a focus on what people said were the conditions necessary for SLCC to achieve its aims. Following this, a number of local organisations will be invited to give a response to the issues raised by the consultation and to reflect on how these conditions can be best met.
The event will be chaired by Dr Sue Hollinrake, head of social work at UCS. Feedback from the consultation will be presented by Professor Noel Smith, UCS. Responses will be given by:
- Age UK Suffolk
- Suffolk Family Carers
- Suffolk Coalition of Disabled People
- Suffolk Learning Disability Partnership
- Anna McCreadie, Director of Adult and Community Services, Suffolk County Council
The event is free and places can be booked online. Alternatively, you can telephone 01473 338183.
