The Government would like to hear about your experiences of the Gift Aid scheme, with a view to improving how the system works.
You can provide your feedback here, until Wednesday 2 March 2016.
They are seeking to:
- Understand what is working well
- Understand the potential barriers faced by charities under the current scheme rules and why some charities may not be making use of the scheme
- Establish what changes, if any, should be made to the current rules in order to improve the effectiveness of the scheme
About the Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme
This scheme allows charities to claim a top-up equivalent to income tax on small cash donations. When it was introduced in 2013, it was thought that claims from charities might total £125 million per year. In 2014/15, however, the take-up was only £21 million.
