Community Action Suffolk (CAS) and NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations) have been working in partnership to produce an online tool showcasing data about local charities in Suffolk.
CAS wanted facts and figures about charities in Suffolk – this is the kind of work that NCVO does when organisations are interested in charities of a particular type or located in a particular area. The data tool provides a service which combines charity statistics with open data (that is free to use).
Where is the data from?
The website gives an overview of local charities in Suffolk, using data from the Charity Commission register of charities. The analysis does not include those regional or national charities that are based outside of, but operate in, Suffolk.
What data can I view?
You can find out about Suffolk charities’ income, expenditure, assets and workforce, and see where they are based on a map. The data can also be filtered to a district and borough level for Babergh, Forest Heath, Ipswich, Mid Suffolk, St Edmundsbury, Suffolk Coastal and Waveney.
Who will find this tool useful?
If you are a voluntary or community group completing a funding application, you will find interesting and relevant data to support your application. Statutory organisations can learn more about the significant coverage of the voluntary sector in Suffolk.
