Community Action Suffolk, Suffolk Congress, Suffolk County Council and Ipswich and East Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group jointly organised a work shadowing event on 11 June 2015 at Suffolk Food Hall.
The morning included speakers from the different sectors and a ‘speed dating’ session where representatives from the Voluntary and Community Sector, Suffolk County Council and Ipswich and East Suffolk CCG met and found out about one another’s work.
Chris Bally, Assistant Chief Executive of Suffolk County Council, opened the event and commented:
“I was delighted to be asked to open the event and welcome the opportunity for the VCS and Public Sectors to build on the partnership working and collaboration already underway. It is essential that we work together on the challenges facing public services and to do this we need to understand each other better. The appetite and enthusiasm to do this were palpable on the day and I look forward to watching the shadowing scheme take shape in Suffolk.”
Participants from the day have now been matched and will work shadow one another for a day or two half days. Melanie Chew, Chief Executive of Community Action Suffolk, who closed the event stated:
“Too often we are working in silos within our own organisations, dealing with challenges that are affecting us all. This scheme provides an opportunity for us to experience first-hand some of the day to day challenges of colleagues in other sectors, build relationships and share ideas on how the VCS and Public Sector can work together to achieve better outcomes for the people of Suffolk.”
Community Action Suffolk looks forward to feedback from participants of the scheme. For further information contact Vanessa.
