Volunteering in Suffolk is off to a flying start this year, with over one hundred new registrations to the Volunteer Suffolk website in the first six weeks of 2018.
The Volunteer Suffolk website www.volunteersuffolk.org.uk enables local organisations to advertise for volunteers. It also allows individuals to search the varied opportunities to support Suffolk’s communities.
One focus for volunteering in Suffolk this year, is the opportunity to help out at local events, such as the Great East Swim, Midnight Walk and Only the Brave. These events are already looking for volunteers and there are many more in the pipeline.
Supporting a local event is a great way to experience volunteering for the first time. Volunteers only have to make a commitment for a single day, to see if it’s something they enjoy. Event volunteering also offers the opportunity for families to volunteer together, or for office colleagues to gift their time as a team.
One of the first people to register with the Volunteer Suffolk website was Terry Clements, Mayor of St Edmundsbury. Terry joined at a recent Most Active County event.
If you are interested in volunteering and supporting Suffolk’s events, you can register your details at www.volunteersuffolk.org.uk
Event organisers can also register with www.volunteersuffolk.org.uk and share their events and volunteer opportunities on the website.
