Volunteers Week across Suffolk was a great success with many charities and organisations recognising the huge impact that volunteers have in supporting delivering services, but also about the personal relationships they build.
Many groups held events and activities to show the work of their volunteers, but most importantly to thank them.
Volunteering Field Officer Carolyn Shaw attended one such event at the Papworth Trust. The Trust works across the county working with adults with disabilities to enjoy life to the full. Celebration events took place across the East of England and Carolyn attended the Ipswich event.
Robert Wallace Volunteer Co-ordinator for Papworth Trust commented, “the events were to recognise the tremendous contribution our volunteers make to the charity… each centre across the East of England was able to thank their volunteers, give out awards for ‘outstanding contribution’ as well as enjoy some food, singing and drama.”
The charity held 9 events and personally thanked 260 volunteers for their enthusiasm, time and dedication.
