The Alzheimer’s Society and The Befriending Scheme joined Community Action Suffolk in the ‘pop up’ event in the centre of Ipswich on Monday 2nd June and chatted with 50 people who were moving around Ipswich in their daily routine.

The volunteering team set up a bright and cheery gazebo by the Giles statue and handed out stickers, sweets and examples of volunteer roles and chatted with people about Volunteers Week. The statue helped spread the volunteering message the campaign asking “Can You… go to the cinema? Grow vegetables? Make someone smile? Yes volunteering is that simple!

Earlier in the day, CAS’ Andy Wilesmith appeared on BBC Radio Suffolk, interviewed by Mark Murphy, to talk about the importance of volunteering and to promote Volunteers’ Week.
